NPD and Sweepland

by admin on February 14, 2007

NPD SweepstakesIn case you haven’t tried it yet, here is the scoop on NPD’s latest addition Sweepland. NPD has spiced things up a little by adding a new sweepstakes system they call sweepland. Now for each survey you complete you get the usual sweepstakes entries for the daily, monthly, and quarterly sweepstakes plus 25 sweepland points and a chance to spin the sweepland wheel. They don’t have Vanna White, but it is still entertaining. The wheel contains prizes ranging from $500 instant winner to additional sweepland points ranging from 25 to 500 points. Once you earn your points, then the real strategy begins, how to use them. They have a menu of prizes, and you must bid your collected points for a particular prize for a chance to win. They give you details such as number of prizes per item, percentage of people bidding, etc, so you gotta be savvy on how you spend your points. I still do not thing it is as good as taking surveys for money, but the excitement of possibly winning the big prizes keep it entertaining. I tried a couple of times but haven’t won yet, anyone else given this a try?

I do not seem to get a ot of survey from NPD, am I doing something wrong?

Probably not, NPD sends me about 2 to 4 surveys per month, and I noticed it comes in waves. So I may get two in one week, and then not get any for a couple of weeks. You might try updating your profile in the members area, and make sure it is complete, if you are not at least getting a couple of surveys per month. If you are looking for another panel that hosts an instant win game, I would also suggest surveyspot. They send a lot more survey offers than NPD, and they always seem to have many surveys listed in the members area.

I have been with thew NPD for almost an year now, all that new sweepland points and the wheel of “fortune” are great, but i have never heard of, or met anyone who’s won any of them surveys, etc If the survey is interesting and i concentrate on it, i normally get 25 point, if its something i dont have much to say about i get 15… always the same result
I want to believe that this is real, but i cant…

I haven’t won yet either but they do have a winner’s list which can be found here (NPD winners list). They have a lot of members so the odds are that you probably have to dedicate a lot of points per drawing, just like a lottery to win. I have recieved anywhere from 25 to 100 points for completing surveys, and I generally just take the surveys that are interesting to me.

Has anyone actually met anyone who has won anything from this so called contest?

Reply

webmaster April 7, 2007 at 7:47 pm

I have to be honest, I have tried three times, dedicating 500 points for the $100 draw with no luck. Not sure how many points are needed to actually have a chance of winning either. They do have a winner’s list as I indicated in the previous blog. I too would be interested in hearing from someone that has actually won, and the number of points they used.

I have been a member of NPDOR for quite a while (couple years at least). I just won a weekend getaway. I believe I only entered like 20 points. I put a few more points on the prizes I really like and at least a few (2-5) on everything, I figure if you skip a prize you can’t win it.

I should revise my comment and say I just received the notice email. I will post how it works out. I actually stumbled onto this site because I wanted to check-out Sweepland’s validity a little bit. It looks legit. They use Marden-Kane, Inc. to administer the prizes, as far as I know a fairly well known company in that biz.

Joshua, thanks for the comments. Look forward to hearing to hearing how it works out, and have fun on the getaway! Always good to get confirming feedback like this.

I received my vouchers for two nights stay at a Marriott in the mail. My only complaint is that not all Marriott hotel locations are available, but there are a lot that are.

Its always good to hear comments from other panel members about prizes they have won. It just proves that joining the right survey panels can be rewarding.

I was just checking out their’s too, because I happen to notice that there were a lot of people from certain areas, and then I just looked up a couple names on Switchboard.com to see if they were actual people, which they may be, but none of them were listed, at least of the ones I looked up. I just find it a little odd that they have all these prizes, and they have constant winners, but they don’t have any way to communicate with the other users. Just seems a little odd to me.

I can understand your doubts, but I have to believe that their are contest winners based on the feedback of this blog and that Marden-Kane, Inc is administrating their prize distributions. Marden-Kane, Inc actually list NPD as a client on their site, along with other reputable big names like the NFL and America Online.

I just joined that site and for those who won, how long does it take for them to announce if you did? The one I entered just ended today, but I haven’t seen whose one yet, so I was wondering.

I just received info that I have won a weekend getaway, but we sure have to give a lot of personal information to get the actual prize mailed to us. Is this really legit? I have filled out a lot of surveys, plus I have tried to win various prizes. I was very surprised when I “won”.

Another weird question. Whenever you finish a survey and do that game, has anyone gotten anything out of that? No matter WHERE I put the ball, it ALWAYS lands on extra points. Every single time.

Reply

MikeL July 24, 2007 at 7:47 am

hmm i currently have 1000 points saved up from surveys. waiting for some good prizes to come up. i usually get the extra points no matter where i put the ball also. i think its a very rare occurance to get something else. i think like after every certain ammount of survey’s there will be one lucky person who will win a mp3 player or somethin *shrugs* thats just my theory

I just won a weekend getaway, and I was wondering if any one else who won it knows why you have to pay taxes on 1,000 dollars worth. It says it’s worth 1,000, but I can’t imagine why it would be worth that much for only 2 nights stay, and breakfast!?!? I noticed that “JENNI” wrote about getting vouchers in the mail,, and if you’re reading this, or anyone else who has won a weekend getaway could please let me know why its worth 1,000? Thanks!

I would be more at ease with the ‘games’ if they simply listed point amounts as prizes. It seems dishonest to me to have dollar amounts up there that they have no intention to award you. I don’t really mind the sweepstakes, since I don’t expect to ever win those. But the ‘games’ are a little annoying. Harris has a much better system.

I think thousands of people do the surveys, and hope they will hit the big one! When you start, you can’t leave, for that reason, I love Sweepland! BUT!, sometime Adobe Flash works, and sometimes it doesn’t. I still get some points, but love to play the game!

I put 12 points only, but it`s third month now, I do not get anything, they did not answer to my letter. I think wait a little more and then cancel my membership.

What is Harris?

Link to their program?

Michael, I am assuming you are inquiring based on Lanin’s comments (comment# 26).

Harris Poll Online is a Market Research Panel hosted by Harris Interactive. Like NPD they also offer points for completing surveys, however unlike NPD you can trade those points directly for prizes; the difference is that these prizes are generally a much smaller value than the ones that can be won with NPD’s Sweepland.

So if you want a sure thing, yes Harris is a good alternative, but if you want to take surveys for a chance to win a large prize NPD is a good choice.

Really, they are both good panels and worth trying out. Here are links to both if interested.

I have been doing surveys with them off and on for about 8 months now and was recently notified that I was a $100 winner. Nice surprise. Now I make sure to not miss any of the surveys they send.

The first time I filled out a survey or two I got a lot of points. I didn’t tally them up but I think it was around 300. I entered to win $100. This was back in June 07. I was notified I won. I waited for those 6-9 weeks and I got a check in the mail for $100! I went and cashed it the same day, everything was ligit. :)

hey this is very interesting…i really enjoy hearing that other people have won things…I hope i win something…like maybe the 5,000 dollars lol i also out a few points in the movie night..but i really don’t care about that one…my thing is I have never really won anything, and I wonder if you win one time…do they ever let you win again?

Reply

tonia May 13, 2008 at 2:58 pm

oh and also how do you get more surveys? does anyone know?

Reply

Holly Cortes May 15, 2008 at 8:51 am

You cannot actually get more surveys than what they send you. You just have to make sure that you do all the surveys they send. Sometimes one a month sometimes more. It just depends. I check my email every day or so for more surveys. An yes, you can win as many times as your name is drawn as a winner.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been with NPD for a couple of years, no prizes yet, but I’m still hoping. Its great to hear of all you prize. I wonder how many points folks used to win the big prizes?? I usually win good points from the games. I won 500 points once from a game and I didn’t even fill out much on the survey, cuz it didn’t apply to me.

Jamilah El-Amin August 7, 2008 at 8:33 am

I, too, have one $5 dollars on an instant win game, and I actually just won it a few hours ago. Still have to wait a bit for it to come in the mail, but I’ve only been with sweepland for about 4-5 months. I never intended on winning anything, but the games are amusing. I like the game right now they’re using (It reminds me of the favorite game everyone loved on “The Price is Right”. I loved that game.

I won a weekend getaway, and $100 dollars. For both of them I didn’t enter more then 100 points each. The weekend getaway says you have to pay taxes on up to 1,000… depending on how much you spend there, and where you go. They only tax you on what you spend though, so just get the receipt, and save it so they know how much to charge you on taxes.

I joined sweepland about 2 years ago, I placed my points on the prices that had somewhat of a value, nothing extravagant, mostly kitchen gadgets and a few times on the game systems. I haven’t won anything yet, but since it is pretty much a raffle i figured that my chances against thousands of people would be pretty slim. so far i haven’t used up any of my points for over a year, I have acumulated give or take 3000 points but i’m not going to put them in play yet. If you want to make points and actually exchange them for real rewards, try on the “lightspeed panel” which will reward you for real (if interested, you can google “Lightspeed panel”, it will come right up). I have used a whole lot of points on amazon giftcards because I shop online a lot but you can also spend you points on other rewards. The only thing is because of deployment, I can’t access the webpage overseas, unlike the npd online which still sends me surveys.
